Jason Wu 2013 Spring Collection

Jason Wu born in Taiwan in 1987 and first appeared in Vogue magazine in 2007 was an unknown designer up until Michelle Obama wore one of his designs at the inauguration of her husband!
Since that time he has been thrust into the fashion world and has had great success. I love his designs and this years Spring collection is stunning! As Vogue online's Hamish Bowles said "he took his cue from the very different visions of women celebrated by photographers Helmut Newton and Lillian Bassman, and married them for his spring 2013 show"
The leather pieces that started he show were joined together with lace throughout. It was a great way to start the show!
There was an eighties feel to the show with the pencil skirts and the tailoring! It was fab!

Wu was able to work with the idea of underwear as outerwear! And I can truly say it worked well! His pieces all had the elegance feel to them as still could look edgy! He could play with the softness of the fabric with the hardness of leather he used as the straps, they worked fantastic together!
Many designers struggle with this idea but Wu has a great eye for the detail of the design concept!
The final dresses of Wu's show are the memorable pieces, these floaty gowns are my favourite of the whole show! The chiffon, made from yards and yards of netting, veiled the model's legs and allows them to still look fabulous and classy in pieces that were still very edgy!

I really could fault any piece from this collection and I suggest you watch the show or just look at the pieces here in my post! I loved researching this post, and watching the videos of the show, time well spent!

Comments always welcome!
